Chomp Chomp

It all started with this adorable dress. I was trying to justify the summer splurge, when I realized I could just do an alligator themed party for Lillian's 2nd birthday. The wheels were spinning.

Then I saw this cake, and I was hooked.

I had the nicest lady on Etsy create custom invitations, thank you notes, cupcake toppers and wrappers.

Last weekend I happened upon these gator Lilly Pulitzer plates-LOVE IT

My sister gave Lillian this placemat a few months ago, it was meant to be!

Harrison had a very hard time helping me stuff these favor bags today. I think I could have filled one more bag had he not eaten all the ones that "fell."

I have started prepping for Lillian's second birthday. My fingers are crossed for warm weather. Last year we were all in shorts, and this year it is freezing. I am looking forward to having my parents here and celebrating with all our friends. Even bronchitis cannot damper the excitement! Cannot believe my little petunia is going to be 2!

Joe traded in the manly Volvo station wagon last weekend. We really had not even talked about it but he saw a truck he liked and 4 hours later...hello new truck. The kids were so excited. You would have thought we won the lottery. It is a great fit for Joe, especially with cycling and the kids have plenty of room in the cab. Welcome "loving" truck.

This weekend was just what we needed. Joe was home from traveling and even took Friday off. We worked in the yard, went out to eat, sat in the sun, went hiking, hung out with friends, and just savored family time. He left today for Vegas, and I am wishing we were still sitting in the sun watching the kids play. Spring is in the air and I am so thankful for all the blessings that surround me.

Harrison packed a "first aid kit" full of band aids and snacks in case any of the boys got hurt riding bikes today. He even hooked it to his belt loop. Nice...

When Harrison was little I had so much fun dressing him. He was one well dressed baby. Fully smocked at all times. I Ebayed and searched for all his cute clothes. Then the great stand off occurred when Harrison turned 2, and he was beyond opinionated about his clothing. It took me a few months to realize it was a battle I could not (I had a newborn), and did not want to fight. He would scream when I dressed him in anything that matched. Then over the last year he allowed me to start picking out things occasionally for him, and did not argue when I dressed him for church. This morning he walked in at 8am and exclaimed that he was "ready to go play." Check out the get up. A tiny part of me wishes he would let me dress him in all the cute preppy stuff in his drawers, and not the glow in the dark pirate shirt his Gramps just sent him from Florida. But, the look of pride on his face reminds me that I have to let him be independent. When we were in Florida I made him wear a polo shirt, and he called it a "handsome shirt" the whole time. "Mommy, why do you keep making me wear handsome shirts???"
I admit defeat.

"Hard Hats"

I was cleaning up from lunch yesterday and the kids went upstairs to play. When I walked in my room, this is how I found them. Harrison explained, "these are our hard hats and we are construction workers."

Luckily Lillian at least got a clean "hard hat."

They were having so much fun. It was great to hear them laughing and not fighting!

*On a side note, please notice my bed is a crazy mess. Harrison crawled in bed with me around 6am and then I got up with Lillian around 6:30 (Joe out of town). Harrison came downstairs around 7 all dressed for the day. Shirt, pants, socks and shoes. I was thrilled and told him what a great job he did at getting himself all ready. He replied, "well I had to change because I wet your bed." Awesome. Great start to the day!

Happy Birthday To You!

Harrison had a great 4th birthday. I think he is still floating on the birthday cloud (or he could just be on a sugar high from the cake). We woke up and had a great family breakfast, he opened presents and daddy stayed late to ride bikes. He had a party at school and they sang to him and "made a special birthday hat." We then had 7 kids over for lunch and for dinner we had a big group at Harrison's very favorite-MOE'S. It is such a great feeling as a parent to see your child surrounded by so much love. All sets of grandparents and good 'ol aunt Milly sent such thoughtful and generous gifts. We are so blessed to have such an incredible son.
